What started as a chilly knee-deep barefoot river crossing in icy cold glacial meltwater evolved into 14km of rough horse trails. Having navigated the horse holes and trails bolstered with corduroy sections, I arrived at the lower falls.
After an hour photographing it, I was curious to explore upstream. I climbed over a hill and around a few turns...before me was one of the most spectacular 4-level waterfalls I've ever seen: Upper Junction Falls.
Another hour or more of shooting quickly passed before I realized its a long way back to the truck.
Packing up the dog and equipment, we managed ot get 2/3 of the way before dark set in. The kind of deep black dark where you cannot see where you are stepping. Fortunately, I always carry a bright flashlight which got us to the truck.
At the trail head, we were met with flashing lights and bright spotlights. Someone had tripped their Emergency GPS and the police were looking for who needed help.
