Smudge & Jeremy

Jeremy is a vibe. The riding boots, jodhpurs, neck scarf, moustache, long overcoat, excellent choice in headwear - he is a style icon. When I first photographed Jeremy it was at his home in the country, for a personal project. I'd gotten a Megabus up to somewhere near Oxford, and he came to pick me up. Jeremy and his wife Sinead would not allow me to leave again without filling my bags with vegetables from their garden allotment. It was like I was a nephew who had come to stay. I'd never had purple carrots before. So, it was a great joy and honour to work with him again. Now, as a father, I was more familiar with him as the voice of Scar (Lion King). He was back on the West End stage with the hugely acclaimed ‘Long Days Journey Into Night’ by Eugene O’Neill. I asked him to sit in the window. He cheekily lit a cigarillo and blew the smoke out through the gap. Smudge, his dog, looked up longingly so Jeremy lifted him up to complete the effortlessly suave look.
