The theme of the falling angel holds significant symbolism in fairy tales and folklore, reflecting themes of redemption, temptation, and the struggle between good and evil. In many cultures, angels are portrayed as celestial beings of purity and divine grace. The concept of a fallen angel represents a departure from this ideal, often depicting a celestial being who has succumbed to temptation or pride and fallen from grace.
The cultural function of such stories lies in their ability to explore moral dilemmas and existential questions, offering lessons about the consequences of our choices. Ultimately, the fallen angel symbol represents the eternal struggle between light and darkness within the human soul.

Background and framework:
"Kingdom of the Dreamer" explores the legacy of classical storytelling through DocT’s widely recognized neo-expressionist visual language. Spurred by his reading of Grimms’ Fairy Tales as bedtime stories to his daughter, DocT finds inspiration in how folktales represent both timeless relevance and universally shared cultural lessons. Throughout the collection, familiar archetypes of European folklore converge in resemblance to a fragmented tarot deck. Between the rich colors and visual violence of his gestural marks, DocT’s work navigates a delicate balance between cheerful enthusiasm and terminal dread.
