In the grand courtyard of an impressive historical building, a museum to be precise, we encounter the enigmatic "Krickelkrakelmann" (German for "Scribble Man"), a bizarrely distorted, yet dynamic figure, dancing enthusiastically before the museum's grand facade. The whimsical character at the gates of this reputable institution represents the interaction between contemporary art and an established bastion of artistic tradition. The German text of the accompanying music translates as follows: "Sowas kommt mit nicht ins Haus." ("I won't have this in my house.") The line encapsulates a rigid, petty bourgeois mindset that resists the unfamiliar. This sentiment evolves, gradually softening as the narrative unfolds. "Na gut, zieh aber Schuhe aus." ("Alright, but take off your shoes.") The latter signifies a reluctant, yet subtle shift towards acceptance and openness. The "Krickelkrakelmann" playfully alludes to the prevailing skepticism and dismissal that often greets new and innovative art forms, echoing the historically recurrent response: "This isn't art! It’s just scribble." The artwork showcases the current Zeitgeist and my own artistic journey, as it navigates the transition of digital art into the more traditional, physical art world. It also reflects a distinctive and common facet of our human perception of anything new: An initial objection gradually gives way to acceptance, affirming that innovation and transformation are integral to the ever-evolving tapestry of the world around us. _ Stylistic framework: "Krickelkrakelmann" is part of a series of (Neo-) Expressionist artworks titled "Oh Look! It's Us!" by DocT. Rooted in the late 20th-century movement, Neo-Expressionism emerged as a rebellious force against the abstract and conceptual art of its time, giving prominence to emotional intensity and the raw tapestry of human experiences. Within this series, a kaleidoscope of distorted yet powerfully authentic reflections of reality and the intricacies of the human condition and the current Zeitgeist is unveiled. The fusion of static and animated pieces beckons viewers to embark on a journey into the abyss of existence's disarray. Each digital stroke and frame has been meticulously crafted to encapsulate the very essence of our shared human plight. Through somewhat chaotic brushwork and vibrant hues, the series embraces the profound and illuminates the enigmatic and unsettling aspects of life in an almost visceral manner. _ Process and media: Each work is the outcome of a specifically designed multi-step process, which includes the creation of a series of base images with MJ and/or SD, the partial blending of the base image drafts, and comprehensive post-editing using Photoshop and other editing tools. _ Of note: Each piece collected from this series comes with a collectors edition piece. Collectors can sacrifice 3 collectors editions in exchange for one 1/1 from this series of their own choosing. The majority of pieces from this line of work will be 1/1 NFTs, apart from airdrops to collectors and occasional edition pieces. Some works may also be available as separate physical art prints and/or semi-robotic installations/"physical gifs" in the future, which would not include the NFT.
